
The EAG and GARD Center will be partnering in a project to raise awareness at the community level about the importance of forested hillslides as healthy watersheds and to stimulate interest in local plants through the production of informative materials.As well as a visitors center, native species nursery and an arboretum for propagating and maintaining live specimens of rare and endangered species of native plants,ss well as promoting conservation of their native habitats. The area selected for this project is located in the Body Ponds area and will involve the participation of the surrounding communities of Bendals, Swetes, John Hughes and Buckleys, all of which have steep watersheds adjacent and regularly experience fires in their fires in their areas. Local individuals and communities will be given basic and botanical skills training to enable them to run their own guided tours.
